It wasn’t all smooth sailing for drivers in Cambridge Saturday.
The Cambridge Police Department had to shut down Cambridge and Third streets after a boat got stuck in the middle of traffic.
An unusual road closure tonight around 7 p.m., after a 30’ boat slid off its trailer at Cambridge & Third Streets. A 30-foot boat slid off its trailer and onto the road at Cambridge and Third streets around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Cambridge police said. The driver apparently stopped for a light, but then quickly accelerated through the interaction. Safety chains attaching the boat to the vehicle failed, and the boat slid onto the road, the department said.
Images shared by the department on social media show the boat resting in the middle of a lane, with cars navigating around it.
No one was injured, according to Cambridge police. But they may need a bigger boat.
