Lynn non-profit asks for help finding missing teen employee

“We’re all extremely concerned and are calling on anyone with any information to come forward,” The Food Project Co-Executive Director Maritza Rosario said of Brian Lopez, 17.

Lynn nonprofit The Food Project asked residents to look out for a missing teen employee who has not been seen last week.

Brian Lopez, 17, was reported missing on Friday by his family in Lynn. He is still missing as of Monday afternoon, Lynn police said.

The Food Project said in a press release Monday that Lopez is a member of the organization’s Seed Crew, where he works with 30 other teens to reduce food insecurity in and around Lynn. He began working there in early July, the organization said.

The Food Project says Lopez was last at work on Wednesday. Video footage shows him leaving his home on Friday with a backpack. Lynn police said they are searching for him in the Lynn Woods Reservation, where the teen likes to take walks.

While Lopez started working at the organization less than a month ago, Co-Executive Director Maritza Rosario says he “impressed staff with his commitment” to the cause.

“We’re all extremely concerned and are calling on anyone with any information to come forward,” Rosario said.

The Food Project aims to “create a thoughtful and productive community of youth and adults from diverse backgrounds who work together to build a sustainable food system,” their website reads.

Lynn police and The Food Project encourage anyone who has information on Lopez’s whereabouts to contact Lynn police at 781-595-2000.
