A man died in a boat crash on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire, authorities said.
The victim, Thomas Mead of Tilton, was 76, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The State Police Marine Patrol unit responded to reports of a boat crash just before 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, the agency said. Upon their arrival, they determined that a 17-year-old operating a pontoon boat had struck Mead while he rowed in a scull boat.
The operator of the pontoon boat began CPR on Mead, State Police said, then fire rescue units arrived and continued resuscitation efforts. An ambulance transported Mead to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to State Police. Anyone with information concerning the incident should contact Marine Patrol Sgt. Joshua Dirth at (603) 227-2115 or [email protected].
