Mindy Kaling reveals she gave birth to her third child, a daughter, in February

Mindy Kaling celebrated her 45th birthday on Monday, and in marking the occasion, revealed to followers on Instagram that she gave birth to her third child in February.

The baby girl’s name is Anne, the Cambridge native wrote.

“She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined,” Kaling wrote. “When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!”

Kaling accompanied the post with a series of photos: of her youngest with her two other children, daughter Katherine and son Spencer; a photo of herself with a baby bump; and a picture of her two oldest kids sitting on her hospital bed.

While congratulations poured in, some of her followers reacted with shock to the surprise announcement.

“Queen of secretly giving birth,” wrote one user.

“Wow! You are the master at controlling your socials! Congratulations,” wrote another.

The actress has previously said she does not plan to speak about the paternity of her children, and she does not share images of their faces on her social media.

“I think people are often surprised that for someone who seems as open as I am on social media and who writes things that seem drawn from my life, I find that stuff really private,” she told The New York Times Magazine in 2019.
