A new boutique hotel in Maine’s Rockport Harbor is gearing up for its first summer season with the debut of a rooftop restaurant.
Rockport Harbor Hotel, which opened in December, began serving diners at its new Atrium Restaurant on May 30, a restaurant on the top floor with a retractable skylight and sliding glass doors with views of Rockport Harbor and Penobscot Bay.
Diners at Atrium enjoy freshly caught seafood such as oysters, lemon chive crusted halibut, and citrus steamed lobster, as well as Szechuan crusted duck breast, beef filet with brandied fig glaze, slow-roast pork belly, and more.
“Whether you’re seeking a romantic evening under the stars or a lively gathering with friends, Atrium Restaurant offers the perfect ambiance for every occasion,” wrote hotel officials on Facebook.
The luxury 4-diamond hotel is part of The Bay View Collection, a small group of luxury boutique hotels in Camden and Rockport. The stay offers “elegant and sophisticated in-town lodging,” wrote the team in a press release.
Guests stay in 20 suites and studios, some overlooking Rockport Harbor and Penobscot Bay, and others with views of Rockport Village and the distant Camden Hills. The rooms boast private balconies, luxurious linens, and gas fireplaces, and the bathrooms include soaking tubs and custom marble and glass showers.
“The hotel’s design and décor pay tribute to the historic roots of Rockport’s industrial past, while incorporating modern elements and luxurious amenities,” wrote the team.
The location at 20 Central St. was the former home of The Rockport Ice Company, according to the team, and after that it was a gas station before a nor’easter destroyed the building and it was torn down.
Atrium is open Wednesday to Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. Visitors and guests at can also dine at Oak Room, the hotel’s lobby bar and restaurant, which is open for breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. and dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. The bar opens at 3 p.m.
A boutique spa is slated to open on the ground floor of the hotel in the spring of 2025.
Rates start at $269 per night in the off season and $419 per night during peak season.
