It isn’t immediately clear who the new owners are and what’s next for the pub.

The Thirsty Scholar Pub in Somerville, known for its hearty bar food, trivia nights, and a place to watch a game, was sold and is closed for now.

A spokesperson confirmed the sale of the bar and restaurant, known for being featured in a scene from “The Social Network.” The Corbett Restaurant Group, a realty business that sells restaurant and bar spaces, also posted on its Instagram account that The Thirsty Scholar was among several “successful transactions” in the last few weeks.

Boston.com tried reaching out to the bar, but no one picked up the phone during business hours. The lights were out, and there was a lock on the door during a Thursday evening visit to the Somerville pub.

It isn’t immediately clear who the new owners are and what’s next for the pub — and if it will reopen as The Thirsty Scholar.

The Somerville bar originally opened in the 1990s, and closed due to a sale as recently as 2021. It reopened in early 2022 under new ownership, Greater Boston Bar Co., a group that has bought up older dive bars and pubs around the metro area, like The Tam and the Silhouette Lounge, according to reports and records.

Julius Sokol and Fred Starikov, part of Greater Boston Bar Co. and City Realty, also own the historic German beer hall Jacob Wirth, which the group had slated to reopen earlier this year.

One of the group’s earlier purchases included the former Beacon Hill Pub, but the group has since sold it to 149 Charles Holdings LLC.
