Boston’s celebrity chef Tiffani Faison has closed Tenderoni’s, the “mothership” Fenway location of her pizzeria that started at the High Street Place food hall.
Her restaurant group, Big Heart Hospitality, made the announcement on the eatery’s Instagram account on May 31, stating that Friday was their last day of service.
“Tonight is our last evening of service at Tenderoni’s Fenway,” the group shared on Instagram. “We want to thank and celebrate our team, our neighbors and most importantly, you. The last decade in this space has been as much of an honor as it has been an adventure.”
Tenderoni’s opened in the Fenway location — next to other Faison spots Sweet Cheeks Q and Fool’s Errand — in late 2022. Big Heart Hospitality brought it to the Boylston Street spot after Faison decided to close Tiger Mama.
The opening of the flagship location also quickly followed behind its High Street Place location, which opened in early 2022. The High Street Place location will continue to operate as a Tenderoni’s alongside Big Heart Hospitality’s two other properties there, Diver Bar and Bubble Bath.
Faison’s restaurant became known for its signature pies, two-and-a-half-foot long pizzas, and its fun-loving, nostalgic atmosphere that extended to its disco roller rink-inspired decor and menu items like the crab rangoon dip.
It isn’t immediately clear what’s next for the space, though Faison told The Boston Globe that she doesn’t have plans for something new at the Boylston Street location.
