The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) has yet to recover after a global system outage on Friday.
The department is still not able to process motor vehicle inspections five days later.
“The RMV continues to coordinate with its vendor, OPUS, and inspection sites to remedy issues,” they said in a statement posted to X.

Motorcycle inspections are still available, the department said.
Last week’s outage caused the RMV to cancel appointments, online credit card payments, and vehicle inspections. Appointments and digital payments are now functioning properly, but vehicle inspections remain unavailable. It is unclear when the issue will be resolved.
A technology outage impacted banks, airports, hospitals, and other establishments across the globe on July 19. Cybersecurity company Crowdstrike, responsible for running Microsoft Windows, sent out a live update that had a bug in it. Crowdstrike solved the bug later that day, but effects of the outage were long lasting and widespread.
