For football lovers, the biggest day of the year is fast approaching. Super Bowl LVIII, set to take place Feb. 11 in Las Vegas, pits the San Francisco 49ers against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are making their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years.
Who will win? In a close vote, 55% of the 517 readers polled said they believe the Chiefs will take home the Lombardi Trophy on Super Bowl Sunday, while 45% are betting their luck on the 49ers.
With Super Bowl Sunday right around the corner, crafting the menu for the night is at the top of fans’ to-do lists. The options are endless — chips and dip, sliders, potato skins, mozzarella sticks, and nachos, just to name a few — but one of the most popular football foods inspired our latest question to readers: where do you go for the best chicken wings?
Firefly’s BBQ in Marlborough received the most nods, taking 25% of the vote. Some readers, such as Sean F. from Marlborough, say that other wings in the area can’t compare.
“Wings are my favorite food. Firefly’s Jumbo Wings are easily the best. I have tried them all over. I have yet to find even a close second,” he said. “They are huge, juicy, cooked perfectly and the sauces are perfection. I hope to find a better wing someday but for now its easy for me to choose.”
The size of the Jumbo Wings are praised by Boston.com readers. Yuriko K. from Westborough said that the wings “feel like a meal yet were only the appetizer,” while Camille G. from Marlborough said that at other restaurants, it’s “so rare to get a full wing instead of just drumsticks.”
Buff’s Pub in Newton, the fan-favorite in 2021, has remained another reader favorite three years later. Readers say that Buff’s serves up some of the best wings Greater Boston has to offer, with many saying that they’re on the same playing field as wings from Buffalo, New York, home of the infamous Buffalo wing.
“The wings are always done perfectly every time I visit. Hot and crisp with the right amount of mild Buffalo sauce or whatever sauce you choose. There are many different flavors and combos available for the discerning wing foodie,” said Chris C. from Norwood.
The Smoke Shop BBQ‘s multiple locations, Wendell’s in Norton, and Dedham House of Pizza in Dedham were other favorites among readers.
