Two people fatally struck by MBTA train in Natick, officials say

Two people were killed after they were struck by a Commuter Rail train in Natick Monday evening, officials said.  

MBTA Transit Police and officials with the Middlesex County D.A.’s Office are investigating the circumstances of the incident, said MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan. 

A spokesperson for the Middlesex County D.A.’s Office said that foul play is not suspected.

Several trains on the MBTA Commuter Rail’s Framingham/Worcester line were canceled due to the incident.

The MBTA first announced that a Worcester Line Train was canceled due to police activity at about 5:30 p.m. Monday and warned passengers on the line that they would experience “significant delays.”

Some trains on the line were cleared to operate on one track between Wellesley Farms and West Natick at about 7:10 p.m., according to a post from MBTA on X, but passengers experienced hours-long delays and trains continued to be canceled closer to 8 p.m.

No further information was released Monday evening.
