A Cape Cod man reinvested some lottery winnings into more scratch tickets, and wound up winning $4 million from a $10 instant ticket game.
According to the state lottery, James Leonard of Sandwich bought one ticket and won $50. When he went to cash that ticket in the next day, he bought five more tickets.
When he scratched them off in his easy chair at home, the fifth and final ticket was the lucky winner.
Leonard chose a one-time cash payment of $2,600,000, before taxes. He says he will use the money to buy a home and save for retirement.
The ticket was a “$4,000,000 Diamonds” purchased at Sam’s Food Stores in Buzzard Buy.
